Accessibility Committees Workshop
As accessibility committee members know, local governments make decisions that impact our day-to-day lives, yet they can be challenging to navigate. Understanding your ability to affect change within local government will help you identify your best levers for influencing the policies your communities need.
Taking place on September 25th at 11:30 am, this 90-minute interactive workshop presented by Women Transforming Cities will cover:
- An overview of the local government ecosystem
- How decisions that affect the disability community are made
- The right feedback channels to use so that your feedback is heard
- Ways to overcome barriers to participate in city government that work for you
- Brief Q&A Session
- An overview of the Accessible BC Act by Untapped Accessibility
Accessibility of the event
The event will take place via Zoom. The link will be sent in advance of the session. Live captioning and ASL interpretation will be provided. A captioned recording and an accessible slide deck will be available for all attendees.

This webinar will help disability advocates, members of municipal or regional Accessibility Committees, and the staff who hear and action their feedback understand how to look at local decision making through a disability-justice lens. We encourage Accessibility Committees and the staff who facilitate them to attend as a group!
