I work at the Sonora Community Centre in Osoyoos, BC and two weeks ago I received a call from a woman who’s family had recently been at our Sun Bowl Arena for a hockey tournament over the weekend. She was calling to let me know that the experience her family had at our arena was one of the best in recent memory. When her family arrived at the arena with their child who is in a wheelchair, one of our staff at the arena let them know that we have a Rampo stair lift to the second floor mezzanine and if they were interested in using it at any time during the tournament, that he’d be happy to help. Excited that their child could participate in everything being offered at our facility that weekend, they repeatedly took him up on the offer and each time he obliged with a smile on his face. Their child had a great time being a part of all of the festivities and the parents were so grateful for the Rampo that we had installed. This also gave me a chance to let her know about all of our other Accessibility equipment at our bike trails, the lake and our parks around Osoyoos. She was thankful for the additional information and was excited to bring her family back for another visit this summer. I am so happy that we could help elevate this families visit to our town and make a child’s weekend so fun.
