Public Beach Accesses of all different types are a priority for the City of Nanaimo. The City of Nanaimo has created a successful accessible beach access program with the installation of mobi mats at 5 locations (both salt and fresh water). 2 additional new salt water mobi mat locations will be added by the end of the month (May 2026) to ensure even better distribution and access to beaches for all park users in all seasons.
The mobi mats provide safe universal access to all park users and were a priority for Nanaimo's Accessibility and Inclusiveness Committee.
